Fast and reliable simulation of electromagnetic fields in three space dimensions remains one of the key challenges of scientific computing. The main focus of research in the nano-optics group is addressing this challenge, particularly through a focus on adaptive finite element methods. Our main application area is integrated optics, nevertheless applications ranging from climate to medical research are treated as well.
