Distributed Algorithms and Supercomputing
Head
Prof. Dr. Alexander Reinefeld
Dr. Florian Schintke
This department performs research projects on scalable, fault-tolerant algorithms for massively-parallel and distributed systems. Our focus is on the analysis and management of big data with our cloud file system XtreemFS, the NoSQL database Scalaris and the MapReduce environment MR-Search.
We operate the North-German Supercomputer HLRN and provide domain-specific consulting for our supercomputer users. New paradigms in hardware and software are addressed by adapting and implementing software for manycore systems and hardware accelerators.
The department is divided into four working groups
