The women's equal rights Berlin state law "Landesgleichstellungsgesetz (LGG) Berlin" became effective 1991. It is meant for establishing and improving equalization between men and women. One of the legal instruments besides others are the women's representatives. In 2006 the female members of Zuse-Institut Berlin elected women's representatives.
