2011-11-02 Storage Day at ZIB
On 02.11.2011 the event "Storage Day" was hosted by ZIB.
Participants were given an overview of the latest technologies in the field of data management.

2011-09-13 Start of the Exadata Demo-Center at the Zuse Institute Berlin
On 13.09.2011 our Exadata Demo-Center at Berlin was officially opened.
Since November 2008 the ZIB is already acting as „Center of Excellence for Data- and Storagemanagement" and is offering a neutral place for tests and benchmarks..

2010-11-09 European Conference for members of LTUG
From 09. until 10.11.2010 a european conference for members of the Large Tape Users Group (LTUG) was arranged at Zuse-Institut Berlin.
Beside the diskussion of organisational questions of the LTUG the company Oracle gave a forecast of current developements round about the storing of data on tape. This was done by a lot of experienced staff  in responsible position.
The mostly living causes of the members could be answered in the positive by Oracle. A small rest was interestedly recorded for clarification.

2010-03-18 Datacenter Forum
On 18.03.2010 the third event in this series was held. The main topics this time were the blade servers from Cisco, and the activities at ZIB for optimal configuration and performance measurement of 10 GE connections including FCoE.

2009-12-13 Storage Summit
From 02. until 03.12.2009 a storage summit, borne by Sun,LSI, the Swiss company BSR&Partner and the Zuse-Institut Berlin, was arranged at ZIB. Participants from Germany and Swiss discussed their suggestions about new strategies to handle very large amounts of data.

2009-09-15 Datacenter Forum
On 15.09.2009 an event was held under the title Data Center Forum Berlin-Brandenburg. This was the second in a series of periodic events where representatives from scientific data centers should given up to date information to a mutually agreed topic.

2009-06-09 SAM-FS / QFS User Conference
At the 4th SAM-FS / QFS user conference from 08. to 10.06.2009 at DLR Neustrelitz, the ZIB participated with a lecture by Mr. Wolfgang Pyszkalski, about
"Structure of the storage network for high speed QFS / SAM-FS in the ZIB".

2009-04-21 Sun Day
On 21.04.2009 a Sun-Day took place in the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB)  with information on open storage, Solid State Disks and our activities  in the field of data management at ZIB.

2009-03-24 European Education and Research Conference
On 24. until 26.03.2009 the Sun European Education and Research Conference 2009 was held in Berlin. As part of the invitation to the presentation of our activities, Prof. Dr. Alexander Reinefeld gave a talk on Future of Storage and Data Management.

2008-11-05 Opening Sun Center of Excellence at ZIB
At 05.11.2008 the Sun Center of Excellence "data- and storage management was opened at Zuse-Institut Berlin" in an opening ceremony.
Sun and ZIB have identidied common range of topics and interests and therefore founded a Center of Excellence (COE) for „Data and storage management"  at Zuse-Institut Berlin (ZIB). Themes of this COE are especially data management (reliable, distributed file systems) and storage managment (high performance online storage, SAN technology and archive storage).

2008-02-28 Workshop at ZIB about concepts of storage management
A workshop on data management was aranged on 28.02.2008 at ZIB which was kindly supported by the companies Sun and Cisco. Members of scientific institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg discussed their concepts of data management and the current state of the art.
