Sun Microsystems and the Zuse-Institut Berlin has opened the Sun Center of Excellence for Data- and Storage Managment on 5. November 2008. With that for Sun and ZIB a strong partnership begins with the purpose to work on solutions for urgent problems within the scope of provision and backup of great amounts of data. Foregrounded are the optimization of bandwidth for midrange storage systems and long-term archiving.
