Topological Analysis of Mars Topographic Data

Description

The objective of this project to analyze canyon and river-like structures of the Mars surface. The spatial organization and distribution of these structures can give hints in which kind water on the Mars was present. The reconstruction is done by a topological analysis of the elevation map. The topological skeleton forms a superset of the desired rivers and canyons. Based on a filtration of this skeleton, the topological network can be reduced to the river network. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
