Scalable Algorithms

Head
Dr. Thorsten Schütt

The research of this working group focuses on the aspects of scalability, reliability and efficiency in massively parallel multicore systems as well as very large, Internet-distributed systems.

In our work, we try to transfer the resilience of Internet-distributed algorithms, such as structured peer-to-peer protocols, to massively parallel applications. More recently, we changed our focus to the development of highly scalable out-of-core applications with MapReduce.

Research Topics

  • transactional key/value stores (Scalaris)
  • massively-parallel search-algorithms with MapReduce (MR-Search)
