KOBV - Kooperativer Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg

The Kooperative Bibliotheksverbund Berlin Brandenburg (Cooperative Library Network Berlin-Brandenburg, KOBV) is the network of all university libraries, all public libraries and numerous research, special and government libraries in Berlin and Brandenburg. The responsible bodies are the Senate Office – Cultural Affairs Berlin, the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture and the participating libraries. The KOBV was founded in 1997-2000 and institutionalized in 2001. The aim of the KOBV is to extend the information infrastructure of libraries in the region and to develop new services for library users.  The central entity of the network is the KOBV-Zentrale located at Zuse Institute Berlin. Apart from the technical operation of the network services and the consulting of the participating libraries, the KOBV Zentrale also conducts research and development projects.
The KOBV is cooperating with the Friedrich-Althoff-Konsortium e.V. (FAK), also located at ZIB. FAK has the task to manage the access to electronic information resources for the library community in Berlin and Brandenburg.
