Fire Engineering
Realtime Visualization of Steel Structures in Fire Engineering
Description
In a fire test structural elements like columns, beams or slabs are subjected to mechanical as well as thermal loadings. Whereas the mechanical loads are constant, the thermal loads vary over time. The furnace temperature starts at room level and ends up at 1000 degree Celsius after 90 minutes. New technical standards and research purposes require the monitoring of 30 to 60 thermocouples mounted on the surface of the specimen. At present there are good computer based data acquisition systems but no satisfactory methods to visualize the data in their geometrical context are in use. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
