Thorax

Atlas-based 3D-Reconstruction of the Thorax from X-Ray Images

Description

x-ray images are frequently used for the detection of diseases and anomalies in the chest region. Commonly, these 2D-images are the only basis for the diagnosis. Recent computer aided diagnosis methods, however, require the knowledge of the 3D-chest anatomy of a patient, e.g. in interval studies to observe the course of a disease. In this project methods for the reconstruction the 3D-shape and pose of a patient’s thorax from few x-ray images by means of a 3D-statistical shape model are developed. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
