Visualization of diffusion MRI data

Description

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is a special technique of magnetic resonance imaging. The measurements are manipulated by an additional magnetic field gradient that encodes a specific direction. It is now possible to reconstruct a diffusion value for this direction at each voxel. At least 6 such measurements with direction encoding and one additional unweighted dataset are needed to compute a symmetric second order tensor describing the local diffusion profile. The goal of this project is the visualization of the calculated tensor data in the context of special problems. These are mainly focusing on the comparison of datasets, either as a longitudinal study of a single patient, or to set one case in relation to a control group. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
