CryoRec
Image-Based Reconstruction of Biological Structures in Cryo-ET Maps
Description
The objective of this project is to extend Amira for researchers at the MPI who need to analyze actin filaments and cell membranes of biological specimens in cryo electron tomograms. The reconstruction process will take use of the topological and the geometric structure of the underlying image. The goal is a reliable and complete reconstruction of filaments and the cell membrane. The developed modules should allow scientists to reconstruct these structures in a reproducible fashion and with considerably less effort than needed for a manual reconstruction. Apart from pure image processing algorithms, Amira will provide tools for the visualization and verification of intermediate results that allow scientists to understand and verify biological processes. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
