I am professor for Applied Mathematics at the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and Junior Fellow at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) in the Department Optimization.

Research Statement: I am interested in combinatorial optimization and mixed-integer linear and nonlinear programming, and the development of methods for solving large-scale instances of these problems. I enjoy the collaboration with engineers and practitioners to discover new areas of applications for mathematical optimization methods.

Teaching Statement: I like to teach all kinds of mathematics, from basic courses for engineers to higher level courses for math students. I supervise bachelor and master thesis, in particular in connection with students‘ internships. I like to engage students in recent developments of applied mathematics and optimization.
