3D HIP-OP

Integrated software environment for computer aided 3D surgical planning of the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases

Description

In cooperation with partners of the Musculoskeletal Research Center Berlin (MRCB), a 3D surgical planning system is developed for total joint replacement of the hip as well as for corrective osteotomy. The basis for computer-aided planning are 2D x-ray projection radiographs. An accurate analysis of the loadings occuring in the hip and legs, however, requires the knowledge of the 3D geometry of the anatomy. One of the main targets of this project hence is a 3D reconstruction from 2D projection images. Further information is available in the detailed project description.
