Background

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a degenerative disease resulting in reduced knee function and pain. Varus-Valgus alignment is a crucial risk factor for the development of OA.

 

Thesis Objective

The objective of this thesis is to train neural networks for the detection of anatomical landmarks (femur head, knee joint, ankle joint). These landmarks are used to calculate the hip-knee-ankle (HKA) angle.

Afterwards, analysis of agreement between the resulting HKA angle and extert's ratings shall be performed.

 

Pre-requisites

1. Experience in Python and C++ programming
                - Experience with Deep learning would be a huge bonus
