Nanotechnology opens new horizons: single photon devices allow quantum technology in telecommunications, silicon photonics connects semiconductor and optical technologies, green photonics paves the way for a sustainable reduction of fossile and nuclear power consumption. The main focus of research in the computational nano-optics group is to contribute to these fields by advanced simulation techniques, particularly through a focus on adaptive finite element methods.  With new and improved methods for the solution of Maxwell’s equations, including HPC solutions, we support both fundamental research in physics and the design and manufacturing of real-world devices.
