Cylinder Flow

Let's create an image like this. In any of the steps you are encouraged to vary parameters and play around.
 
 
 

  First we are going to load an interesting vector field. Choose the Create mode and the Vector engine 
 
 
 
  Now select cylinder and click the red valve  to make the engine operate. A vector field should appear on the right now. Click on the field and drag it to one of the six data slots. 
 
 
 
  If not already present we have to generate a noise image as input for the LIC engine. Choose Noise and click the red valve. Save the result. 
 
 
Now the LIC algorithm can be applied. Choose LIC and drag the input data to the funnels as shown. Click on the red valve. A LIC image should appear. Try varying the filter length (what does a value of 1 or 2 produce ?) 
 
 
In this image we can study the details of the flow field. On the next page we will learn how we can improve this image. So read on...
