Development of workflow components for digital preservation of research data in the geosciences
EWIG is designed to support the transfer of research data from various research environments into digital long-term archives without focusing only on a specific architecture or path in the digital preservation workflow.
The project´s aim is threefold: a) to generate exemplary workflows for research data into OAIS compliant long-term archives with emphasis on the Geosciences, b) to develop institutional data management policies, c) to issue a guideline for raising awareness about data curation concepts among students and graduates in the Geosciences.
The generation of model policies, best-practice documentations and a lecture concept is intended to further the re-use of archived research data by the scientific community.
Project partners are
- Helmholtz-Zentrum Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam
- Institut für Meteorologie der Freien Universität Berlin
