The research software provided on this page is an Amira extension package that implements the methods described in:

Rebecca M. Hoerth, Daniel Baum, David Knötel, Steffen Prohaska, Bettina M. Willie, Georg N. Duda, Hans-Christian Hege, Peter Fratzl, Wolfgang Wagermaier. Registering 2D and 3D Imaging Data of Bone during Healing. to appear in Connective Tissue Research, 2015.

The software was developed at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) and the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI-KG) and is provided under an MIT-style license (see download archive). The commercial software Amira is required to run the extension package.

To use the software:

  1. Obtain Amira 6.0. Users without Amira 6.0 may request a trial version with a time-limited license from FEI Visualization Sciences Group.
  2. Download and install the ZIB extension package. The extension package is available for Windows 64-bit (Visual C++ 2010, VC10) and Linux 64-bit (GCC 4.4) at http://amira.zib.de/zibexts/2d-3d-registration/.
  3. Contact 1000shapes to obtain the required GHT extension. Please mention that you need this extension to run the ZIB 2d-3d-registration extension package.

Once you have installed both extension packages in the Amira 6.0 directory, you can run the 2d-3d registration software. A tutorial can be found in the download directory but is also contained in the Amira userguide.
