Amira and Avizo are software systems for 3D visualization, geometry reconstruction, and data analysis. Amira has been designed and developed at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) in the department of Visual Data Analysis. Avizo is based on the same source code but customized for material sciences. Today, Amira and Avizo are jointly developed by the ZIB and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The commercial software producs are available from Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Amira remains the development platform for many research projects in the Department of Visual Data Analysis at ZIB. For this purpose, ZIB maintains a version of Amira for research partners.

ZIB also provides supplementary Amira modules that can be used to reproduce some methods that have been published by ZIB. Available supplementary software is listed under ZIB's visualization software.
