Current projects

I am currently working in the GasLab project of the research campus MODAL. The project is dealing with the problem of dynamically controlling a gas transmission network of large scale. Thus, given a current state of the network, information about future gas transport quantities and historical data to evaluation additional still unknown transportations needs, we have to decide about the operations modes of network elements like compressors or valves while respecting the gas physics in the network as well as the regulatory framework. The challenges in here are the many non-linearities involved as well as the possibility of storing gas in the network, which makes a dynamic view very complex. Since the goal is to create a prototype interacting with live real-world data, the integration of the many technical systems storing this data is a problem to solve. The project is a cooperation with the gas transportation company Open Grid Europe.
