CT-Image Analysis of Cold-Water Corals within Gravity Cores
Cold-water coral (CWC) ecosystems constitute important carbonate factories along all ocean margins, where they form locally large 3-dimensional structures called CWC mounds. Within CWC research, CT has been predominantly used for visualization purposes, for example, the visualization of corals in gravity cores and diagenetic as well as bio-erosional features in corals. In this project, we are developing methods and software that enable the quantitative analysis of CWCs in gravity cores as well as bio-erosional features within these corals.
