Efficient Infrastructure and Logistics
Network optimization exploits mathematical synergies arising from structural similarities in diverse application areas such as transportation, telecommunication, utilities, or electronic circuits.
ZIB’s research aims at the solution of integrated multi-level, multi-layer, and multi-agent problems by innovative methods from algorithmic (hyper)graph and game theory, polyhedral combinatorics, mixed-integer non-linear programming, and convex optimization. Applications include ICE rotation planning, aircraft routing, highway toll enforcement, fiber-to-the-X network design, and gas network control.
