I have organized, together with many collaborators and colleagues, quite a number of scientific conferences, workshops and other meetings. I was involved in the organization of three large scale international meetings to which I donated substantial amounts of time:

1. ICM'98 , TU Berlin, August 17 -- 28, 1998
2. International Conference on Operations Research 1994, TU Berlin, August 30 -- September 2, 1994
3. Symposium on Mathematical Programming -- The State of the Art, Bonn 1982

There have been many other meetings to which I contributed. One meeting for which the proceedings volume appeared in 2004 was the Padberg-Fest (at Zuse Institute Berlin in 2001). I have organized a number of Oberwolfach workshops together with some colleagues.

I organized the workshop "Design of Logic-based Intelligent Systems", Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), September 29 till October 1, 2004.

In February 2006 I organized an IMU EC meeting and a CEIC meeting at ZIB in Berlin.

As the new Secretary of IMU (for the peroid 2007 to 2010) I will organize the next annual IMU EC meetings and I has been involved in the preparation of the next General Assembly of IMU in Bangalore and the International Congress of Mathematicians, ICM'2010, in Hyderabad, India.

Furthermore, I have been involved in the organization of several high-level events concerning the "Year of Mathematics 2008" in Germany.

I was engaged in organizing of the workshop "Mathematics in Economy", jointly realized by BBAW, the Stifterverband fuer die Deutsche Wissenschaft, and Matheon.
