Finite Element Analysis of Bone Microstructure
  Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. Models based on micro-CT images of trabecular bone structure are used to analyze the mechanical properties of the tissue.

Introduction
 

Based on image data from Project Bone a finite element model is generated. Amira's grid generation pipeline is used. It was improved in Project CAS to allow filling a triangle surface with tetraeders adapted to the local feature size. First results of a mechanical elasticity simulation are displayed below.
