Job description 

Within the framework of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center SFB 1404 "FONDA: Foundations of Workflows for Large-Scale Scientific Data Analysis", we research and develop new methods for data management of next-generation data analysis workflows using software-defined networks in the subproject "B4: Exploiting SDNs for Efficient Data Management in Next-Generation DAWs". In cooperation with project partners, we will develop suitable distributed algorithms, implement them on modern hardware, evaluate their performance and publish the scientific results at appropriate international conferences. You work in a committed research team including interdisciplinary partners and carry out the project work actively in coordination with them. A combination of the project work with a doctoral project is desired. 

Your profile 

  • Excellent Master’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, or related disciplines 
  • Advanced knowledge of distributed algorithms and systems 
  • Good programming skills, ideally in C, C++, Erlang, Java, Python or similar languages 
  • Ideally experience in network programming and Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) 
  • Good command of written and spoken English 
  • Creativity, high commitment and independence in dealing with research questions and problems
