Today, dedicated scientists from the Zuse Institute Berlin gave young girls an insight into the world of maths in exciting and practical workshops. For example, the students had the opportunity to deal with optimisation issues in order to find out how to pack as many oranges as possible into a crate or how timetables are actually created. It was also shown how algorithms can be used to determine the shortest route, for example to the cinema. Important tools for visualising 3-dimensional images were also presented (see photo).
