Prof. Dr. Güvenc Sahin of Istanbul's Sabancı Üniversitesi has won a research fellowship of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation in cooperation with the Joachim-Herz-Foundation, which sponsors the academic exchange between Germany and Turkey. Throughout the 18 months of the stipend, Güvenç Şahin will work with the Mathematics of Transportation and Logistics group at ZIB on the the analysis and solution of multi-period planning problems, commenced with the example of line planning problems in public transport, and with an application to Istanbul's famous Metrobüs system. "We are very happy about the Humboldt-stipend and look forward to continue to work with Güvenç", says host Ralf Borndörfer.
