From 19 to 23 October 2026, NHR@ZIB hosted the annual PhD retreat of the NHR Graduate School, bringing together doctoral researchers from NHR centres across Germany. The programme featured sessions on AI in research by Mirza Paramita, a guided tour of the “Lise” supercomputer with Anirudh Krishnadas alongside Anita Ragyanski, and VR scientific visualisation by Daniel Baum. Professional development included the "Rock Your Talk" presentation workshop by Ric Oquita and a wellbeing session by Shubhangi Sethi, concluding with a visit to the German Bundestag.
Coordinated at ZIB by Anushka Pahuja, NHR cohort representative and doctoral researcher in the Computational Molecular Design group, the retreat offered great opportunities for informal exchanges and community building over shared evening meals, laying strong groundwork for future interdisciplinary collaborations among early-career HPC researchers.
