The goal of this project is to develop analysis methods for high-resolution CT scans of open porous asphalt. The investigations focus on the arrangement of aggregates and their connections via bitumen layers or contact surfaces as well as on the distribution and the course of the voids. For these purposes, methods are developed to segment the aggregates, bitumen and voids. Furthermore, the network-like structures of the voids and the aggregate-bitumen material are determined in order to derive quantitative and geometric properties. The visualization software ZIBAmira provides the framework for the developed analysis tools.
