Job description
The Zuse Institute Berlin works in cooperation with other scientific research institutes as well as industrial partners on solutions of planning problems beyond the frontier of current feasibility. Within the Research Campus MODAL in the working group Energy Network Optimization you will work in a team of highly motivated researchers together industry partners. The goal of the project is to development and implement algorithms for mathematical data analysis and optimization for a natural gas transport system.
You will work on complex data analysis from descriptive analysis (data mining, system modelling and fault detection and correction) over prognostic analysis (forecasting models, including machine learning) to prescriptive analysis (optimization based decision support).
Requirements
- excellent master or PhD degree in mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines
- a strong background in applied mathematics and data analysis
- good programming skills in at least one language and proficient knowledge of state-of-the-art statistical tools packages (e.g., matlab, R)
- good command of written and spoken English
- applicants are expected to be highly motivated, self-reliant, team-oriented
