Research Data Management (RDM) is an important new strategic issue facing research institutions worldwide. RDM relates to all phases of the research process: project planning and project application, data processing during the project, archiving and publication. As funders and data users recognize the value of well-prepared data, researchers face increasing demands to produce high quality shareable and reusable research outputs. Universities and research institutions in Germany have only recently started to implement programs, projects and services to support their staff in the complex field of RDM. This project aims to identify options for Research Data Management services at ZIB. Given the interdisciplinary nature of research and the organizational structure at ZIB there is great potential to establish high-quality services that satisfy all institutional stakeholders as well as the scientific community.
