Job description
Our research group develops and implements state-of-the-art algorithms for mathematical optimization and artificial intelligence used in real-world applications. To this end, we collaborate with partners from academia and industry within the BMBF-funded research laboratory MODAL SynLab and beyond. Our flagship solver SCIP is one of the leading mixed-integer nonlinear programming solvers internationally.
In this position, you will be able to continuously advance your own skill set and contribute to our scientific projects in two ways: (i) by developing new mathematical optimization approaches and techniques, and (ii) by implementing state-of-the-art algorithms to improve benchmark performance.
Your profile
- Master and/or PhD degree in mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines
- Strong mathematical skills and an interest in mathematical optimization
- Willingness to learn new concepts, tools and skills as required
- Good programming skills in one common programming language
- Experience with mixed-integer and/or nonlinear programming is beneficial
- C programming experience is beneficial
- Creativity and a high degree of commitment to problem solving
