Background

EuroHPC and BMBF jointly fund the Center of Excellence “MICROCARD2”, focused on the development and maintenance of a high performance simulation package for cardiac electrophysiology with cellular resolution. The openCARP community code is an open source C++ finite element solver specialized on cardiac electrophysiology.

Job description

In the ZIB project team and in close collaboration with project partners from France, Germany, Italy, and Norway, you develop new spatial adaptivity approaches for higher order finite elements and their interaction with domain decomposition preconditioners and time stepping methods, and lead the integration of algorithmic components developed by partners into the joint openCARP code.

Your profile

  • Master degree and PhD in mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines
  • Experience with adaptive finite element methods, domain decomposition preconditioners, iterative solvers, and higher order time stepping methods.
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Interest in international and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Very good command of written and spoken English language

 

Furthermore, we expect excellent communication and teamwork skills, a high level of independence and commitment, as well as the competence and willingness to write scientific publications on an international level.

Although this position advertised is full-time, a part-time agreement is also possible.
