The call for proposals for the "Funding Programme for the Digitalisation of Cultural Heritage Objects of the State of Berlin" of the Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt (Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion) for the year 2026 is now open. The online application deadline for the 2026 funding programme is 25th July 2025 at 13:00.
As always, funding is subject to the availability of budget funds.
Funding will be provided for the interdisciplinary digitalisation of outstanding or highly sought-after cultural assets that are representative of Berlin or the respective cultural institutions. The aim of this funding programme is to make the digitised material and data of Berlin's cultural heritage institutions visible and accessible online, including via the portal of the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (DDB), and to ensure the long-term reusability and the presentation of the digital content.
The 2026 funding programme does not have a thematic focus. If you are thinking of applying with a digitalisation project involving objects from colonial contexts, this is explicitly possible. We also welcome collaborative projects that make objects from different institutions visible and reusable. Data preparation is a central aspect of the funding and the projects.
To prepare your project application, please refer to the current funding guidelines for 2026 for information on the funding criteria. Please also refer to the supporting documents and other information we have prepared for you:
- FAQ
- Creation aid for structuring and conceptualising the project / Erstellungshilfe zur Strukturierung und Konzeption des Projektantrags („Projektbeschreibung“)

Please familiarise yourself with the online application form well in advance of submitting your application. The application form can be found on the service portal of the Land Berlin. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
