The First International Workshop on High-Performance Business Computing (HPBC) took place in Berlin, Germany, January 17-18, 2019 at the Zuse Institute Berlin. The theme of the workshop was »Parallel Algorithms and Implementations for Solving Problems in Operations Research and Data Analysis«. The event was jointly organized by the Working group Wirtschaftsinformatik of the German Operations Research Society, Zuse Institute Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, and Paderborn University, and supported by MODAL AG; it complemented the First International UG Workshop 2019 on Parallel Algorithms in Tree Search and Mathematical Optimization, which was held immediately before at ZIB. HPBC intended to bring together researchers and practitioners from various scientific communities to discuss research results, occurring challenges and promising research avenues in the emerging field of applying High-Performance Computing for solving business problems in operations research, information systems research and data analysis.
