Since its inception 20 years ago at Zuse Institute Berlin, SCIP has become one of the most versatile solvers and frameworks for research in mixed integer optimization. To celebrate the first recorded commit message documenting the start of SCIP's development, a workshop was held to discuss past, present and future developments (https://scipopt.org/20years/).
The workshop was held on November 4th, 2022 and featured two invited plenary talks alongside 16 presentations about current work from researchers around the world. Merve Bodur (University of Toronto) talked about "Methodological Advances in Two-stage Stochastic Programming" and Domenico Salvagnin (Università di Padova) presented "A fix-propagate-repair heuristic for Mixed Integer Programming". Furthermore, it was announced that SCIP will become truly open-source under the Apache 2.0 license starting with the upcoming release.
With almost 80 participants from the community, the workshop gave a good opportunity to exchange new ideas and spark interesting conversations about the future of mixed integer optimization.
