From August 12th to 16th, 2024, the 8th NUS-ISM-ZIB-IIR-MODAL Workshop, titled "Next Generation Computing and Algorithms in the Digital Era," took place. This workshop is the eighth in a successful series of international collaborations with our Japanese and Singaporean partners, strongly supported by the research campus MODAL.
The workshop aimed to explore the potential of next-generation computing and algorithms, focusing on accelerating industrial growth and enhancing societal well-being. It provided a unique platform for experts from various disciplines to exchange insights, foster collaborations, and shape the future of computational research in an increasingly digital world.
The program was packed with presentations on the latest research findings and industrial innovations. Notably, the lively exchange between academia and industry was complemented by excursions to IBM Think in Singapore and participation in The Seventeenth Annual Risk Management Conference and the Research Metrics Workshop.
The inspiring lectures and lively discussions that characterized the workshop once again highlighted the importance of international collaboration in research and practice. The Research Campus MODAL, as both a sponsor and organizational supporter of this workshop series, has once again demonstrated its role as a driving force in promoting research and innovation.
We extend our gratitude to the hosts at the National University of Singapore, the organizing committee Ying Chen (NUS), Katsuki Fujisawa (IIR), Satoshi Ito (ISM), Thorsten Koch (ZIB), Yuji Shinano (ZIB / MODAL), and we look forward to the next workshop, which will be held in Tokyo in 2025.
