Research Engineer (m/f/d)

Our research group develops and implements state-of-the-art algorithms for mathematical optimization and artificial intelligence used in real-world applications. To this end, we collaborate with partners from academia and industry within the BMBF-funded research laboratory MODAL SynLab and beyond. For our flagship solver SCIP, we maintain an industrial-grade continuous integration and testing environment to ensure software quality and to benchmark its performance.
In this position, you will be able to continuously advance your own skill set and contribute to our scientific projects in two ways: (i) by implementing state-of-the-art algorithms to improve benchmark performance, and (ii) advancing the quality of our software testing environment and our cross-platform release process.
Your profile
- University degree (Master or PhD) in mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines,
- Experience with Linux, scripting languages (bash, python, ...), and build systems,
- Willingness to learn new tools and skills as required,
- Good programming skills in one common programming language,
- Creativity and a high degree of commitment to problem solving.
Ideally, you also have experience with tools for CI/CD, DevOps, software testing and databases. If you also own strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team,
then we should get to know each other.
